Brickley’s

Some good news: the “Best Ice Cream in South County” for 22 years running is right here in Narragansett. Even better news: you can walk to Brickley’s from this house. Like, immediately.

The Coast Guard House

Iconic is an understatement. This historic restaurant is the favorite of locals and visitors alike. Fantastic indoor restaurant, outdoor patio with fire pits and even private “igloos” for intimate dinners. The views, the rawbar, the cocktails are all sensational on their own. Put them together and you’ve got the perfect date night steps from the beach. Coast Guard House is a can’t miss.

Monahan’s Clam Shack

A Narragansett institution! Monahan’s offers delicious local seafood and a laid back atmosphere. The lines can be long, but the clam rolls are worth it! Quintessential Rhode Island lunch spot.

George’s of Galilee

Another Narragansett staple! Try the baked stuffed quahogs, or “stuffies” as you’ll hear them called around here, the classic fish and chips, and the Rhode Island-style calamari. George’s menu offers absolutely delicious New England comfort food and lots of fresh specialties. Plus, they’re committed to offering sustainable and responsibly caught local sea food. We love that.

Champlin’s Seafood Market

Don’t sleep on an icy-cold Narragansett Lager and a perfect New England Lobster Roll on the outside deck of Road Islander Monthly’s reader’s poll favorite seafood market. Champlin’s is also a great place to pickup some local seafood to cook at home.

Matunuck Oyster Bar

This is our kind of date night. Stunning farm to table organic produce. Incredibly fresh pond to plate oysters. Schedule a one hour tour of the in-house aquaculture farm, Matunuck Oyster Farm, located in Potter’s Pond just beyond the patio. This is one of the most special restaurants in the area and the attention to detail and focus on local resources shines. Take an Uber so you can enjoy a few glasses of wine or champagne with the daily shuck.

Carolena’s Bakery

Lazy mornings are for pastries and coffee. Our favorite solution is a short walk to the newly opened Carolena’s Bakery on 1014 Boston Neck Rd. Here you’ll find some of the best Italian bites and plenty of options for those who avoid gluten and peanuts. And if you’re into supporting local business, this one hits close to home! The owners are local educators and live right in the neighborhood.

Trio

Trio is great stop for local cuisine from both land and sea. They serve rotating local craft beer and wonderful cocktails, all in a social setting a short walk from the beach. The pizzas are killer and the salads perfect for a lighter summertime bite. Delicious and thoughtful vegetarian options, too!

Crazy Burger

Cinnamon roll French toast, burgers coated in sesame-fennel-wasabi rub. This BYOB haunt is the perfect stop for a fun and eclectic breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And if you’re jonesin’ for your New England clam chowder fix, this is an unexpected spot for one of the best cups in town.

Stay Home!

In addition to the same-day seafood found at Champlain’s, we also love to pickup local lobsters, Quahog “Stuffies”, and fresh made clam chowder from Fresh Catch in Wakefield, all enjoyed on the back deck. And if you want the penultimate in fresh fare, head to the docks in Galilee and give a holler to the local lobstermen who will gladly sell you the morning’s catch right off the boat. Click the button below for a traditional New England lobster boil recipe! Grandpa’s beloved lobster pot is in the kitchen closet. :)

For the classic taste of summer, fire up the Weber grill for a simple burger night or some locally made Italian sausages. Just down the road is Roch’s, a small market filled with summertime staples, prepared foods and made-to-order sandwiches.

Bonnet Liquors is a short walk up the road, so it’s easy to keep those wine glasses filled with cold rosé for a relaxing evening at home.
